EV-Ready Driveways in Manchester & Cheshire
If you’re replacing your driveway, this is the ideal time to prepare your property for future electric-vehicle charging. The Trafford Landscape Company can install discreet underground ducting and access provision during the driveway groundworks, helping you avoid cutting into your finished driveway later.
Our EV-ready preparation is available with new resin-bound, block-paved and gravel-grid driveways across Trafford, Sale, Altrincham, Hale, Bowdon, Lymm, Wilmslow, Chorlton and Didsbury. The final charger, electrical cable, connection and certification are completed separately by a suitably qualified electrician.
Why Make Your New Driveway EV-Ready?
Installing the preparation while the driveway is already excavated is usually simpler and more cost-effective than returning later to cut through a completed surface.
EV-ready preparation can provide:
• A planned underground route from the property towards the future charger position
• Electrical ducting with a draw rope for the electrician
• Capped duct ends to keep the route protected
• Warning tape above the ducting
• Photographs and a record of the route before the driveway is surfaced
• Optional concealed access for a neat finish until the charger is required
The route and termination point are agreed before installation. Where possible, we recommend confirming the requirements with your chosen electrician before the driveway surface is completed.
Choose Your EV-Ready Preparation
Standard EV-Ready Preparation – £425 + VAT
Suitable for customers who want a protected underground route prepared during their driveway installation.
Includes up to 10 metres of 63mm ducting, draw rope, warning tape, capped termination at the driveway edge and a photographic record of the installed route. Longer or more complex routes are priced following a site survey.
Premium Concealed EV-Ready Preparation – £675 + VAT
Our premium option includes the standard preparation together with a recessed access tray or service chamber. This keeps the duct termination neatly concealed and protected until a charger or pedestal is installed in the future.
Both options are available as upgrades to a new TLC driveway. Charger supply, electrical cabling, connection, testing and certification are not included.
How EV-Ready Driveway Preparation Works
Planning the route
We discuss the likely charger position, the electricity-supply side of the property and any future requirements such as lighting, gates or a charger pedestal.Confirming the specification
Where possible, the proposed route and ducting requirements should be confirmed with the electrician who will eventually install the charger.Installing the provision
While the driveway is excavated, TLC installs the agreed ducting, draw rope, warning tape and termination provision before completing the driveway foundations and surface.Recording the installation
We photograph the route before it is covered and provide the customer with a simple record for their electrician to use later.Future charger installation
When the customer is ready, their qualified electrician can assess the electrical supply, install the correct cable and charger, and complete all required testing and certification.
Compatible with Resin, Block Paving and Gravel Grids
EV-ready preparation can be incorporated into a complete driveway installation using resin-bound surfacing, block paving or gravel grids. The route is planned before the finished surface is installed, allowing the access point to be positioned neatly without compromising the appearance of the driveway.
The preparation can also be coordinated with other planned features, including driveway lighting, electric gates, pedestrian access and a future freestanding charger pedestal. Each property is assessed individually because route length, ground conditions, levels and the location of the electrical supply can vary.
EV-Ready Driveway Questions
Do I need to own an electric vehicle already?
No. EV-ready preparation is designed for homeowners who may want a charger in the future. Installing the route while the driveway is being constructed can avoid disturbing the finished surface later.
Does TLC install the charger?
No. TLC completes the driveway groundworks and agreed ducting provision. The charger, electrical cable, connection, testing and certification must be completed by a suitably qualified electrician.
Can this be added to an existing driveway?
It may be possible, but installation could require cutting or lifting part of the existing surface. The best value is normally achieved when the preparation is included as part of a new driveway installation.
Can the same project include provision for lighting or electric gates?
Yes. Additional service ducts can be discussed during the site survey and priced according to the required routes and access points.
Will every installation cost £425 or £675 plus VAT?
Those prices cover the stated standard packages. Longer routes, difficult access, additional chambers, pedestal bases or other service provision will be quoted separately following a site assessment.
